Abstract
We investigate changes in primary gross income from employment of young adults aged 20 to 44 for 32 European countries in the period 2004 to 2017. Preliminary results suggest a stagnation or decrease in the economic well-being of younger cohorts relative to older cohorts in many European countries, especially in regions that were hit hard by the most recent financial crisis. By contrast, cohort effects on individual income are strongly positive in all Central and Eastern European countries analysed.
